Strengthening Integrated Health Campaigns: The Collaborative Action Strategy (CAS) for Health Campaign Effectiveness

05 May 2025

The 2025 NTD Programme Managers Meeting in Lomé brought to light a key challenge facing NTD programs across the African Region: the pressing need to move beyond siloed, vertical interventions and advance toward more integrated, people-centered health campaigns. In response to this shared priority, ESPEN is pleased to announce that the Collaborative Action Strategy (CAS) for Health Campaign Effectiveness (HCE) is now available via the ESPEN Portal.

Co-developed by over 40 partners from across global, regional, and national health partners, the CAS provides a transformative roadmap to improve the planning, implementation, monitoring, and financing of health campaigns through a collaborative and integrated approach. It promotes cross-campaign coordination, improved data use, and harmonized financing mechanisms—ensuring that efforts to tackle NTDs are sustainable, community-driven, and aligned with national primary healthcare priorities.

NTD programme managers are encouraged to review this strategy as a practical reference for:

  • Strengthening coordination across disease campaigns,
  • Integrating NTD interventions into broader health systems,
  • Enhancing domestic resource mobilization and sustainable financing,
  • And ultimately, accelerating progress toward NTD elimination.

All NTD stakeholders are invited to consult this critical document and consider how its recommendations can be adapted to support country-led strategies.
