Partner with ESPEN: Strengthening the Fight Against Neglected Tropical Diseases

The Expanded Special Project for the Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (ESPEN) is a transformative initiative, driven by a public-private partnership between the WHO Regional Office for Africa (AFRO), Member States, and NTD partners. Our mission is to support countries in the Africa region in their fight against five devastating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs): lymphatic filariasis (LF), onchocerciasis (Oncho), soil-transmitted helminths (STH), schistosomiasis (SCH), and trachoma (TRA).
Why Partner with ESPEN?
- A Unique Position in the Fight Against NTDs: ESPEN is at the forefront of advancing NTD control and elimination in the African region: we provide essential technical and operational support to health ministries across the continent. By leveraging our global health network, ESPEN helps countries achieve 100% geographical coverage of Mass Drug Administration (MDA) interventions, even in the most remote regions.
- Data and Coordination for Effective Solutions: At the heart of our strategy lies robust data collection, surveillance, and supply chain support. With our ESPEN Collect platform, we ensure timely data mapping, analysis, and reporting to drive evidence-based decisions.
- Maximizing Your Impact: Just €0.50 can deliver a treatment, protecting future generations. Your support expands access to healthcare, strengthens service delivery, and creates sustainable solutions for NTD elimination.
- Sustaining Momentum for the 2030 NTD Roadmap: Aligned with WHO’s NTD Roadmap 2021-2030, ESPEN focuses on long-term sustainability, integrating NTD efforts within broader health strategies such as One Health and Universal Health Coverage.

How Your Partnership Helps
- Accelerating Programmatic Actions: Support countries to use WHO guidelines for effective intervention planning and optimize supply chains.
- Improving Cross-Cutting Approaches: Drive integrated strategies addressing surveillance, data, vector control, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and more.
- Empowering Countries and Communities: Enable country ownership by supporting community-level data and devolved mapping for targeted interventions.

Together, we can build resilient health systems and eliminate NTDs for good. Partner with ESPEN today and help deliver hope, health, and a future free from NTDs to millions of people across Africa.
