8th Meeting of the Preventive Chemotherapy Neglected Tropical Diseases Regional Programme Review Group

The ESPEN team is delighted to announce the 8th Meeting of the Preventive Chemotherapy Neglected Tropical Diseases (PC-NTD) Regional Programme Review Group (RPRG), scheduled to take place in Brazzaville, Congo, from November 13th to 14th, 2023.

The PC-NTD RPRG serves as a vital statutory body responsible for reviewing and providing recommendations to WHO/AFRO and Member States on strategies and progress for PC-NTD control and elimination. This meeting is crucial as it establishes the role of the newly reconstituted PC-NTD RPRG, transitioning after the 2021 WHO NTD Road Map and the 13th WHO Global Programme of Work.

Meeting Objective:

The 8th iteration of the PC-NTD RPRG meeting is dedicated to refining the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and modus operandi in accordance with the reinvigorated structure of the group. The gathering will provide a platform to evaluate ongoing efforts in combating PC-NTDs and will deliberate on strategic counsel to propel national NTD programs towards the ambitious 2030 targets.

Focus Areas:

- Development and implementation of updated guidelines for the restructured PC-NTD RPRG, ensuring coherence with the new direction of ESPEN under the WHO NTD Road Map for 2030.

- Assessing the current status of Preventive Chemotherapy Neglected Tropical Diseases in the African region.

- Providing strategic advice to enhance progress towards the 2030 goals.
