Schistosoma haematobium Endemicity Status in the WHO African Region

Schistosoma haematobium Endemicity Status in the WHO African Region (Data as of October 2024)
These maps illustrate the subnational endemicity status of urinary schistosomiasis (Schistosoma haematobium) across countries in the WHO African Region, based on survey data compiled by ESPEN from national NTD programmes. The maps classify each administrative unit according to WHO-defined prevalence thresholds—non-endemic, low (<10%), moderate (10–49%), and high (≥50%)—reflecting both baseline mapping and impact assessment stages. This visualization supports countries and partners in identifying priority areas for preventive chemotherapy, monitoring progress, and guiding the transition from mass drug administration (MDA) to post-MDA surveillance.
