ESPEN API Platform
Overview
The ESPEN API Platform provides access to data and services related to neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives. The platform consists of four distinct APIs: Data API, Maps API, Cartographies API, and JAPs API. Each API offers specific functionalities and data to support the analysis and visualization of health-related information.
- Data API: Provides access to the finalized IU and Site Level data for NTDs (LF, Oncho, SCH, STH, Loiasis, and Trachoma), as well as WASH data. This includes data from mapping surveys, MDA (mass drug administration), and impact surveys. All of the data available is sourced from finalized JAPs that are filled-out and returned by each country.
- Maps API: Returns everything needed to render a map for disease or WASH data for a specific country and year range, including geographical data and visualizations.
- Cartographies API: Returns GeoJSON and other useful information about countries, regions, and IUs (implementation units, which include districts and subdistricts).
- JAPs API: Provides access to Joint Application Process (JAP) application files (JRSM, JRF, EPIRF, AWP, and TEMF) and related metadata, such as the country and user who uploaded the file, review status, and the URL for downloading the file.
API Access
To access the ESPEN Platform APIs, you must request an API key from the administrator. This API key must be included as a parameter in every request to the API. The API key is used to track API usage.
